JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono inaugurated the Nanjung Tunnel in Bandung Regency as part of the Citarum River Flood Control System, on Wednesday (1/29/2020).

“The construction of the Nanjung Tunnel is our effort to deal with floods in Bandung Regency and the area below, the big program has only been completed in the upstream and it has not been completed entirely. If the flood control has been completed such as Embung Gedebage, Ciunteung Retention Pool and Cisangkuy Floodway, then inundation could be completely reduced,” said the President.

Nanjung Tunnel was built in November 2017 completed in December 2019, consisting of 2 tunnels with a length of 230 meters each and a width of 8 meters each. Acting as the contractor is PT Wijaya Karya – PT. Adhi Karya (KSO) with a state budget of Rp 317 billion.

In addition to the Nanjung Tunnel, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing has a Bandung Basin Flood Management program, namely the construction of the Embung Gedebage, Cieunteung Retention Pool, and Cisangkuy Floodway. (LM)
